The factory hires Thurmond, a dog dance teacher, as their night watchman. Thurmond trains his guard dogs to understand the factory’s electronics. Some of the Smart toys replicate themselves and gain rapid learning abilities, becoming either vicious creatures or lovable playthings with hidden motives. The slackers fail, exposing Mitch. Jerry and Rose Fonzo find success with their first toy, Wacky Ducky. They meet Minnie, a faux millionaire, and her sly attorney Abe, who persuades them to turn Fonzo’s Interactive into a wacky toy empire.

After several mishaps, disaster strikes when a rogue bathtub toy causes Jerry and Rose to drown, transforming them into prankster ghosts. They set out to transform their dishonest partners, Minnie and Abe, from crooks into honest entrepreneurs.

Jerry’s surprising move? He leaves everything to his quirky twin brother Sonny, who teams up with Minnie and Abe after they fail to cheat him. With Jerry and Rose’s ghostly help, the toys turn the tables on Minnie and Abe. Avoiding jail, they build a toy empire while Jerry and Rose discover their ghostly talents for the afterlife!
